Jinzo

Samuele Donato, known artistically as Jinzo, was born on September 8, 1994, and lives in Daverio, in the province of Varese, Italy.

His work explores personal and social identity through the transformation of sneakers into masks, giving life to distinct characters that challenge conventional boundaries between art, fashion, and cultural narrative. These masks emerge from a deep reflection on the nuances of identity the complexity of the individual, the many “masks” we wear in everyday life, the pursuit of authenticity, and the sense of self lost in the need to belong. A core theme in Jinzo’s work is transformation. He believes that at times, destruction is essential to make room for new creation. This process of deconstruction serves as a tool to question and renew both personal identity and the perception we hold of ourselves.

His artistic path has recently expanded into the creation of full-scale sculptures in materials such as bronze and marble. These works are not only aesthetic in nature, but embody the physical weight and permanence we often assign to the identities we choose or are forced to wear.
